The high cost of eating healthy

Recently I've tried to become more aware of what I put in my body.

I mean, nobody's supposed to be eating fast food at all, let alone as often as some of us do. There are much healthier things available to us.

The problem is, these things are much more expensive than their McCounterparts. For a dollar, a freaking DOLLAR, I can get a good sized cheeseburger or chicken sandwich or any of a dozen things at my local fast food joint, whereas I'll easily spend 5-7 dollars eating more healthily. What sort of tricks do you guys use?

  1. Indeed, fast food is cheap and delicious and that's probably why people buy and eat them

  2. If I have time and money I try to eat somewhat healthy. But if I'm in a hurry or need to pay rent... dollar menu all the way.

  4. Honestly, I just accept that eating fast food regularly is not an option and I plan my budget accordingly. If it means I don't have money for entertainment but I know I will be eating well, that's just the sacrifice I make.

I know that's not helpful for a lot of kids with no cash, but sadly it's all I have to offer.

  5. I eat BLT bagels as a proxy for fast food.
    Healthy L & T and delicious B.
At my local bagel cafe costs about the same as a McCrappyPounder

  12. I buy skinless chicken breasts, quinoa and broccoli. Make a big batch and eat three days in a row. If you get some decent sallad dressing on it it isn't all that bad
